Bringing Unity Back into the Community (BUBIC) - Haringey, London
Bringing Unity Back into the Community (BUBIC) is a community based user-led peer support services, where there is support and education from ex-users who run BUBIC. Their work involves providing community based activities that will aid the rehabilitation of ex-users. They work in partnership with other voluntary agencies as well as the statutory sector to reduce crack cocaine use in Haringey and beyond.
It is estimated that there are approximately 1,300 problem drugs users
in Haringey with approximately 350 receiving structured treatment at any
given time. The borough's drug services provide clients with BUBIC members
(all volunteers) who act as mentors. These mentors can be accessed for
advice, guidance and support. The project Works with ex-users, current
users, families and friends and the wider community.
