It works with the Princes' Trust xl programme to help 14-16 year olds not in education because of crime.
The 9-month programme uses a range of projects to help the young people with their education and employment prospects. The most recent group undertook a sports development course with a local primary school, and made a road safety film in conjunction with the Barking and Dagenham Council.
The Princes' Trust xl programme works with a growing number of schools and non-mainstream centres across the UK and targets young people facing difficulties in education.
Deliberately informal, xl clubs seek to re-engage and motivate young people and members learn to take responsibility, develop social skills and enjoy the benefits of teamwork.
Last year xl clubs helped 13,886 pupils at risk of underachieving, through 1267 xl clubs, operating in 621 schools.
