Smart Justice Young People Petition
Eastleigh Youth Crime Prevention

The youth service acts as the leading agency in the local community safety strategy, offering a range of programmes and activities to engage young people and provide alternatives to anti-social behaviour.

It aims to reduce first time and repeat offending by five per cent between 2002 and 2005, reduce school exclusion by a similar percentage, and see a reduction in vandalism and graffiti across the borough. The initiative is based on principles of participation and consultation, in order to encourage young people to identify the main issues affecting them, how the area could be improved and what they would like to happen. The project then works with young people to help develop provision in response to these identified needs and interests, such as skateparks and youth shelters.
