Smart Justice Young People Petition

Oxfordshire Youth Mentoring Scheme

Project set up in September 1999 to provide mentoring support to young people at risk of offending or in difficulty across the county.

Community and business volunteers commit themselves to individual young people (normally aged 10-17) for at least one year, and have access to a 25-hour accredited programme. The project is located within the youth service and managed in partnership with the Youth Offending Team (YOT), which funds the project, and social services. Most young people are referred by their YOT worker, a teacher, or some other professional. Participation is voluntary.
