Westway Community Transport - Kensington and Chelsea
A Community Payback Scheme
Westway Community Transport (WCT) provides a much needed service for the elderly and local charity groups in the borough. Community Payback helps to support the
service by providing work groups who help to keep the buses clean and tidy.
The project was vistited in Dec 2007 by Jan Pethick, High Sheriff of Greater London, who spent over an hour at the project and spoke to staff from WCT, LP and
offenders in the work group. Offenders were keen to speak to him and gave a positive view about the work they were doing. One of them said: "It was better to spend
time doing useful work which helped elderly and disabled people than being in prison." Mr Pethick found the visit very interesting and it gave him the opportunity
to find out more about work being done in the community by UPW/Community Payback.
